Island of the Chiloé Archipelago belonging to the set of the Chauque Islands. Its surrounding is a small archipelago within the Chiloé Archipelago, with small islands and Canals like labyrinths of great tourist attraction. This town had its great lumber boom in the year 1900, with the exploitation of native wood, which, added to a canning industry, produced great activity in navigation to the north and south of the archipelago. There are large mansions from that era and a beautiful bridge that joins two areas. Mechuque village is a town with Palafitos (Stilt Houses) built on the edge of the sea, where only around 300 people live in houses with Alerce tile roofs, it has a beautiful craft fair and a small museum.
