After navigating through Peel Fjord, we encounter this colossal glacier, approximately 2.5 kilometres wide and 50 metres high, located in the heart of the Southern Patagonian Ice Field.
Amalia Glacier has a unique feature: rising from the centre of its ice mass is Reclus Volcano, a true enigma for volcanologists.
Aboard the MV Skorpios III, we approach the glacier’s face and sail along it from south to north, taking in its grandeur. We then board exploration boats to navigate along its front and among the ice, admiring this immense glacier whose dark bands of earth reveal its slow advance.
